Introduction

Beijing SOHO China Urban Cultural Foundation (hereinafter referred to as "SOHO China Foundation") was established on June 20, 2005 as a philanthropic organization solely funded and operated by SOHO China.

It is the utmost mission of SOHO China Foundation and the focus of our work to advance moral education among the public, particularly the youth. We believe education to be the most fundamental solution for changing the fate of impoverished families in China. We also believe the elevation of public responsibility to be a cure for many of the societal problems facing China today.

In addition to providing monetary contributions, SOHO China Foundation invites and encourages the employees of SOHO China to participate in each of its programs by contributing their time, love and intellect in giving back to their community. 

SOHO China Foundation had donated a sum of RMB 9.86 million from 2004 to 2006. 2007's contributions more than doubled the figure of the previous three years, reaching over RMB 20 million. RMB 14.7 million, or over 70% of this total, has contributed to education. Our donations have helped build educational infrastructure in Huangnan Prefecture, Qinghai Province, helped construct a teaching building and library in Tianshui City of Gansu Province, helped provide financial assistance to needy college students in Beijing, and helped support the "Aid to Students in Need Program" of the Beijing Chaoyang Charity Society. As of the start of 2008, SOHO China Foundation and SOHO China had donated RMB 31.7 million to more than 40 charity projects across China.

In the future, SOHO China Foundation will continue to adhere to our commitment, moving toward greater professionalism and an enhanced level of management, in order to contribute as much as we can to building a better community.

Material and spiritual prosperity together form a pair of wings. Just as SOHO China, the corporation, strives to generate wealth for its shareholders and society at large, SOHO China Foundation leads charitable initiatives for the betterment of communities in need. Through funding and the active participation of SOHO China's staff, the programs we undertake prove to be uplifting, rewarding and fulfilling for all parties involved.
