- SOHO China's Initiative for Restoring Education in Earthquake-Struck Areas
On May 12th, Wenchuan of Sichuan province was struck by an earthquake that measured 8.0 on the Richter scale. The plight of the children struck by the disaster, many of whom lost their loved ones, has moved us all. To provide relief to the people in need of help, SOHO China Foundation has undertaken an initiative to restore education in the area.
- "Futures Brightened through Helping Hands"
In 2008, SOHO China Foundation will donate RMB 4.8 million to be used toward a year of learning and living costs to groups of 100 needy students from 12 select colleges and universities in Beijing, aiding 1, 200 students in total. Furthermore, SOHO China Foundation will organize SOHO China employees and students receiving aid in carrying out volunteer charity work, encouraging them to take part in public welfare activities. In doing so, we both promote social responsibility and alleviate hardship. This project is undertaken in collaboration with Beijing Youth Development Foundation.

- Faculty Training for Schools in Remote Areas
Organized by the Beijing Youth Development Foundation, a children's character building program will be provided for the heads and recognized teachers of nearly 20, 000 elementary schools across the country. They will be given an opportunity to visit and exchange ideas with outstanding schools in Beijing. SOHO China Foundation will cover all related costs, including training, travel, and accommodation.

- Promotion of IB Education in Beijing Schools
The International Baccalaureate (IB) is an internationally-established, quality-oriented educational system, at present adopted by only four schools in Beijing. SOHO China Foundation will provide personnel and funding to promote IB education in Beijing schools in consultation with the International Baccalaureate (IBO), and progressively expand the number of schools and students adopting it.

- SOHO China's "Harmony Express & Love Delivery"
We have funded the train tickets for 1, 000 needy college students so that they can go return home to be with their families for the Spring Festival in 2008. We have also provided gift packs, including food, daily necessities, stationery, and phone cards, to needy college students who have decided to stay in Beijing during the festival.

- "Philanthropy 1+1: Hearing the love"
Our donation of RMB 1 million to the China Foundation for Disabled Persons will help provide hearing aides and hearing recovery training for 500 deaf children in need.

- Educational Assistance to Huangnan Prefecture, Qinghai
Our RMB 10 million donation to the prefectural government of Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, will be used to improve the local educational infrastructure, strengthen teacher training, and set up the "SOHO China Schooling Foundation".

- Educational Assistance to Tianshui, Gansu
Our donation of RMB 4 million to Panjizhai School, Tianshui, Gansu Province, is being used to improve learning conditions and access for local children through the construction of classrooms, dormitories, and other facilities.

- Support of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
Support of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital We donated RMB 5 million (USD 620, 000) to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in the U.S., an institute focused on promoting know-how and organizational techniques for improving the survival rate of children patients with severe diseases globally.

- Tsunami Relief
Our donation of RMB 1, 068, 140 to the people of tsunami-hit areas of Southeast Asia was a heartfelt expression of the sympathy felt by SOHO China and its staff.

- "Love in Beijing, Love in Chaoyang"
We made a donation of RMB 200, 000 to the Red Cross of Chaoyang District, Beijing to aid local families living below the poverty line.
